Description

[link] Peggy's Cove Lighthouse with scaffolding at sunset. The old lighthouse is about to get a new coat of paint.

The first lighthouse at Peggys Cove was built in 1868 and was a wooden house with a beacon on the roof. Every evening the keeper lit a kerosene oil lamp magnified by a catoptric reflector (a silver-plated mirror) creating the red beacon light marking the eastern entrance to St. Margarets Bay. It was replaced by the current structure, an octagonal lighthouse was built in 1914.

The use of the star filter here is phenomenal and really makes the shot, the colors are stunning, I love the oranges of the sky and the faded color reflecting off the water. The vertical line of the lighthouse is a bit off which can be distracting, but really with the cross filter over the sun one tends to not notice, the subtle tilt. Great use of the light shadows to create a detailed silhouette which still shows the texture of the rocks. I really think that you have something awesome going with this star filter, Overall, lovely work keep it up.
